This 5-hour Orientation and Safety course introduces new caregivers to the foundational knowledge, responsibilities, and safety practices required in Washington State caregiving settings. Students learn essential caregiver expectations, client rights, workplace safety principles, infection prevention practices, communication standards, observation and reporting responsibilities, and emergency preparedness procedures.
The course emphasizes maintaining a safe, respectful, and professional environment for both clients and caregivers while preparing students for continued Home Care Aide training. Topics include standard precautions, personal protective equipment (PPE), body mechanics, mandatory reporting, documentation, and promoting client comfort, dignity, and safety.
