Healthy skin is essential to a client’s comfort, safety, and overall well-being.
This course teaches caregivers how to promote and maintain skin integrity through proper hygiene, nutrition, hydration, mobility, and attentive daily care. Learners will explore common risk factors for skin breakdown, early warning signs, and effective prevention strategies.
The module also provides guidance on performing personal care tasks, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and range of motion, while following the service plan and honoring client preferences.
Caregivers will learn safe techniques for turning, repositioning, and using assistive devices to protect both themselves and the client.
Learning Objectives:
Promote healthy skin by applying best practices in hygiene, nutrition, hydration, and mobility
Identify all critical steps for safe turning and repositioning, including the proper use of assistive devices and body mechanics
Recognize risk factors, early symptoms, and appropriate responses for skin breakdown and pressure injuries
Apply best practices for personal care tasks—such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and range of motion—based on the service plan and client preferences
Demonstrate safe performance of common care procedures, incorporating assistive devices and following all required care practices
