Core Basic: Client Rights

This course introduces how client rights are protected under state and federal laws and the role of the home care aide in upholding those rights. Learners will review key rights such as privacy, confidentiality, choice, and safety, along with advance directives and advocacy supports.


The course also covers recognizing abuse, neglect, and exploitation, as well as the caregiver’s responsibility as a mandated reporter. Emphasis is placed on protecting client dignity, using safe alternatives to restraints, and supporting a safe, respectful care environment.
