About the Foundation:

The mission of The Long-Term Care Foundation of Washington State is to offer resources, support, and education to the adult family home (AFH) community in order to create and sustain caregivers and champion providers in their everyday efforts.

The Foundation believes that every adult family home deserves a trusted partner to support their efforts to provide quality care. It also believes that every provider and caregiver deserves to feel valued, equipped, and supported at every stage of professional development. Their programs are centered around strengthening the long-term care workforce and supporting adult family homes through training, connection, and partnership.

Programs:

AFH Training Network

The Training Network helps cover class and test fees for CNA, HCA, and specialty courses for eligible individuals.

Care Navigation

Care Navigation assists AFHs in finding affordable health insurance options.

Language Access

Language Access Support assists individuals in the Training Network with translation throughout their training and testing.

Cornerstone Partnership:

Cornerstone serves as a dedicated training partner for the Foundation’s Training Network. More than a thousand caregivers across Washington State have gained access to online training options that support timely completion, quality instruction, and improved workforce readiness.

Through this partnership, Cornerstone collaborated with the Foundation to convert live, instructor-led program onboarding into an on-demand online course. This transition has streamlined the onboarding process to reduce administrative burden and has given staff the flexibility to create more robust support for caregivers.

Cornerstone has been an invaluable partner in our work to support adult family homes and caregivers across Washington. Their training is practical, accessible, and grounded in the realities of caregiving. Together, we’re not just meeting requirements, we’re building confidence and strengthening the workforce.

Karen Cordero, Executive Director

We appreciate Cornerstone’s clear communication, timely coordination, and dedication to ensuring caregivers complete their training with confidence and the skills needed to provide safe, high-quality care in the Adult Family Homes served by the Long-Term Care Foundation of Washington. Their partnership plays an important role in strengthening the caregiving workforce and supporting providers in meeting both regulatory and staffing needs.

Zenaida Almodovar, Workforce Development & Digital Systems Manager

I have registered many students to Cornerstone's courses over the past few years. Cornerstone has made it possible to become certified long-term care workers for those who require flexible training, live in rural areas, need training in Spanish, and so much more. Their team has always been responsive, supportive and friendly.

Looking Ahead:

As Washington’s long-term care needs continue to evolve, the Long-Term Care Foundation is focused on expanding training access, strengthening workforce pipelines by launching an AFH-specific job board connecting prospective caregivers with AFHs, and deepening support for adult family homes statewide.

Our collaborative efforts aim to reach more caregivers, build quality training, and ensure that those who care for others have the tools, education, and support they need to succeed. At its core, this partnership represents what’s possible when mission-aligned organizations work together: stronger caregivers, stronger homes, and stronger communities.
