This course introduces caregivers to essential practices for preventing the spread of infection and ensuring safe food handling in care settings. Learners will explore how infections develop and spread, and the caregiver’s role in breaking the chain of infection through proper techniques such as handwashing, glove use, cleaning, disinfecting, and immunizations.


The course also covers how to observe and report signs of infection, as well as key principles of food safety. Caregivers will learn how to prevent food-borne illness by safely preparing, storing, and handling food, including preventing cross-contamination and maintaining proper temperatures. Emphasis is placed on protecting both the caregiver and client through consistent, safe practices.
